WHEREAS, An inspiring couple whose lives have been enhanced | ||
by a great and enduring love, Robert and Carol Callis of El Paso | ||
celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on February 4, 2011; and | ||
WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Callis were united in matrimony on that | ||
special day in 1951; through the years, they have nurtured a | ||
fulfilling marriage that has been made even richer with the | ||
addition of their children, David and his wife, Deborah, and Daniel | ||
and his wife, Susanne, as well as three grandchildren, Stacy, | ||
Stephanie, and Owen, and one great-grandchild, Tyvan; and | ||
WHEREAS, Mr. Callis creates handcrafted leather goods, and he | ||
is a retired noncommissioned officer of the U.S. Army who served | ||
with distinction in Korea, Vietnam, and the first Gulf War; Mrs. | ||
Callis has been a dedicated homemaker throughout the couple's | ||
marriage; and | ||
WHEREAS, While innumerable changes have taken place in the | ||
world during the past six decades, this devoted husband and wife | ||
have remained constant in their commitment to one another, and the | ||
strength of their love has enabled them to meet life's challenges | ||
and opportunities with grace and optimism; now, therefore, be it | ||
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas | ||
Legislature hereby congratulate Robert and Carol Callis on their | ||
60th wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere best wishes for | ||
continued happiness; and, be it further | ||
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Callis as an expression of high regard by | ||
the Texas House of Representatives. | ||
