WHEREAS, Debbie Gillespie is concluding her tenure on the | ||
board of trustees of the Frisco Independent School District in June | ||
2023, drawing to a close more than a decade of outstanding service | ||
to the district; and | ||
WHEREAS, Since first joining the board in 2011, Ms. Gillespie | ||
has served as the Place 5 representative and as the board's vice | ||
president and secretary; she was a member of two FISD bond | ||
committees in 2003 and 2006, and she has held numerous leadership | ||
positions with the Frisco Council of PTAs and school PTAs and PTOs; | ||
she has also served as an ex-officio board member of the Frisco | ||
Education Foundation and on the Frisco High School Band Booster | ||
Club board; and | ||
WHEREAS, In September 2022, Ms. Gillespie assumed the role of | ||
president of the Texas Association of School Boards, a nonprofit | ||
association that serves and represents school boards across the | ||
state; she was first elected to the board of TASB as the | ||
representative for Region 10, Place A, in 2014, and she later served | ||
as its second vice president; and | ||
WHEREAS, Ms. Gillespie is a longtime community leader who has | ||
benefited many organizations, including the National Charity | ||
League, the Young Men's Service League, the Frisco Women's League, | ||
and Frisco Family Services, through her involvement; in all her | ||
endeavors, she enjoys the love and support of her husband, Dane | ||
Gillespie, and their two children, Caitlin and Connor; and | ||
WHEREAS, Debbie Gillespie's hard work, professionalism, and | ||
commitment to excellence have greatly benefited the students of | ||
Frisco ISD and earned her the respect and admiration of her fellow | ||
trustees, and her contributions will resonate in the community for | ||
years to come; now, therefore, be it | ||
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas | ||
Legislature hereby honor Debbie Gillespie for her service on the | ||
Frisco ISD Board of Trustees and extend to her sincere best wishes | ||
for continued success as president of the Texas Association of | ||
School Boards; and, be it further | ||
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
prepared for Ms. Gillespie as an expression of high regard by the | ||
Texas House of Representatives. |
