A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 
AN ACT
  relating to the evaluation of child-care providers participating in
  the Texas Rising Star Program.
         BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
         SECTION 1.  Section 2308.3155, Government Code, is amended
  by adding Subsections (b-3) and (b-4) to read as follows:
         (b-3)  When determining the provider's rating under the
  rating system adopted under Subsection (b), the commission shall
  consider:
               (1)  comments from caregivers employed by the
  child-care provider and parents of children receiving care from the
  provider;
               (2)  information regarding any investigations by the
  Department of Family and Protective Services relating to the
  provider; and 
               (3)  a provider's detailed licensing information,
  including any reports against the provider for a violation of the
  minimum standards for the provider and any adverse action taken by
  the Health and Human Services Commission against the provider's
  license or registration.
         (b-4)  The commission shall collaborate with the Department
  of Family and Protective Services and the Health and Human Services
  Commission to obtain the information described by Subsections
  (b-3)(2) and (3).
         SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2023.
