relating to the authority of an owner of real property sold at a tax | ||
sale to transfer the owner's right of redemption to another person. | ||
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
SECTION 1. Section 34.21, Tax Code, is amended by adding | ||
Subsection (l) to read as follows: | ||
(l) An owner of real property who is entitled to redeem the | ||
property under this section may not transfer the owner's right of | ||
redemption to another person. Any instrument purporting to | ||
transfer the owner's right of redemption is void. | ||
SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act does not | ||
affect a transfer of a property owner's right of redemption that | ||
occurred before the effective date of this Act. | ||
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | ||
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | ||
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | ||
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | ||
Act takes effect September 1, 2019. | ||
