relating to the mailing of passenger items prohibited beyond an | ||
airport's security screening to the passenger's residence; | ||
authorizing a fee. | ||
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
SECTION 1. Subchapter B, Chapter 22, Transportation Code, | ||
is amended by adding Section 22.028 to read as follows: | ||
Sec. 22.028. MAILING OF PROHIBITED ITEMS TO PASSENGER'S | ||
RESIDENCE. (a) An operator of an airport under this chapter: | ||
(1) shall provide passengers the option to mail to | ||
their residence an item prohibited beyond the airport's security | ||
screening; and | ||
(2) may charge a passenger a fee to mail the item in an | ||
amount not to exceed $30 plus the cost of mailing the item. | ||
(b) This section does not apply to an item that is: | ||
(1) seized in connection with an alleged offense; or | ||
(2) prohibited from being shipped by United States | ||
mail. | ||
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2021. |
