A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 
AN ACT
  relating to the equalized wealth level and the cost of attendance
  credits under the public school finance system.
         BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
         SECTION 1.  Section 41.002, Education Code, is amended by
  adding Subsection (a-1) to read as follows:
         (a-1)  Notwithstanding Section 41.001(3), for purposes of
  determining whether a school district's wealth per student exceeds
  the wealth per student specified under Subsection (a)(1), the
  number of students in weighted average daily attendance in the
  district is calculated by dividing the sum of the district's
  allotments under Subchapters B and C, Chapter 42, less any
  allotment under Section 42.158 or 42.160, by the basic allotment
  for the applicable year.
         SECTION 2.  Section 41.093, Education Code, is amended by
  adding Subsection (a-1) to read as follows:
         (a-1)  Notwithstanding Section 41.001(3), for purposes of
  determining under Subsection (a) the cost of a credit to be
  purchased by a school district to reduce the district's wealth per
  student to an amount that is equal to or less than the equalized
  wealth level under Section 41.002(a)(1), the number of students in
  weighted average daily attendance in a school district is
  calculated by dividing the sum of the district's allotments under
  Subchapters B and C, Chapter 42, less any allotment under Section
  42.158 or 42.160, by the basic allotment for the applicable year.
         SECTION 3.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2017.
