SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 10
WHEREAS, The year 2023 marks the 25th anniversary of the
Greater Dallas Veterans Day Parade, which is being held in Dallas
  on November 9; and
WHEREAS, Since 1998, the Greater Dallas Veterans Day
Parade has been supported by the Greater Dallas Veterans
Foundation; one of the nation's largest Veterans Day parades with
more than 5,000 participants, the event commemorates the signing
of the Armistice at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th
month of 1918, thereby ending World War I; November 11 became
known as Armistice Day and was eventually made a legal holiday,
and in 1954, it was renamed Veterans Day to honor all who have
performed military service in our country's behalf; and
WHEREAS, Beginning at the City Hall Plaza in downtown
Dallas, the parade will feature speeches and appearances by
dignitaries and military leaders and include the traditional
Eleventh Hour Ceremony, a symbolic wreath laying, the playing of
  taps, and a military flyover in the missing man formation;
moreover, individuals representing the branches of the U.S.
armed forces will take the oath of enlistment; and
WHEREAS, Americans owe a profound debt of gratitude to the
men and women who have put their lives on the line in defense of
our safety and freedom, and the Greater Dallas Veterans Day
Parade is a fitting tribute to their sacrifice and dedication to
  duty; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th
Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby commemorate the 25th
anniversary of the Greater Dallas Veterans Day Parade and extend to
all those attending the event sincere best wishes for a meaningful
and memorable experience; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be
prepared for the Greater Dallas Veterans Foundation as an
expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
