SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 136
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  recognize retired United States Navy Chief Petty Officer Roger
  Garza, Jr., for his service to this country; and
 
         WHEREAS, Chief Garza enlisted in the United States Navy on
  February 25, 1955, after graduating mid-term from Brownsville
  High School; he served the nation with distinction for 21 years,
  retiring on February 25, 1976; and
 
         WHEREAS, Among the many honors he received over the course
  of his military career are a Navy Unit Citation, a National
  Defense Service Medal, a Vietnam Campaign Medal, and multiple
  Good Conduct Medals; and
 
         WHEREAS, Chief Garza is among the long line of dedicated
  men and women who have defended America's safety and democratic
  ideals and whose selfless sacrifice and courage have left an
  indelible mark on the world; now, therefore, be it
 
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
  83rd Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby honor retired
  United States Navy Chief Petty Officer Roger Garza, Jr., for his
  dedicated service and extend to him sincere best wishes for all
  his future endeavors; and, be it further
 
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  Chief Garza as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
