| WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to | ||
| recognize retired United States Navy Chief Petty Officer Roger | ||
| Garza, Jr., for his service to this country; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Chief Garza enlisted in the United States Navy on | ||
| February 25, 1955, after graduating mid-term from Brownsville | ||
| High School; he served the nation with distinction for 21 years, | ||
| retiring on February 25, 1976; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Among the many honors he received over the course | ||
| of his military career are a Navy Unit Citation, a National | ||
| Defense Service Medal, a Vietnam Campaign Medal, and multiple | ||
| Good Conduct Medals; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Chief Garza is among the long line of dedicated | ||
| men and women who have defended America's safety and democratic | ||
| ideals and whose selfless sacrifice and courage have left an | ||
| indelible mark on the world; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, | ||
| 83rd Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby honor retired | ||
| United States Navy Chief Petty Officer Roger Garza, Jr., for his | ||
| dedicated service and extend to him sincere best wishes for all | ||
| his future endeavors; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for | ||
| Chief Garza as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. | ||
