| WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to | ||
| recognize the Greater Macedonia Baptist Church in Houston on the | ||
| grand occasion of its 100th anniversary, which is being | ||
| celebrated February 19, 2023; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Over the years, Greater Macedonia Baptist Church | ||
| has ministered faithfully to the temporal and spiritual needs of | ||
| countless people; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Due to the guidance and wise stewardship of its | ||
| pastors and to the outstanding leadership of its current pastor, | ||
| Vincent Lewis, the church has continued to grow and to play a | ||
| vital role in the life of the community; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Greater Macedonia Baptist Church has become an | ||
| invaluable source of strength for its members during times of | ||
| hardship and bereavement, and it has shared in many celebrations | ||
| during times of abundance and joy; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Members of the church will celebrate a century of | ||
| worship with the theme "Looking Back, Moving Forward, Growing | ||
| Disciples" on February 19, 2023; the celebration of its 100th | ||
| anniversary is an expression of the church's enduring commitment | ||
| to its mission of providing enlightenment and hope to its | ||
| congregation; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th | ||
| Legislature, hereby extend best wishes to the clergy and members | ||
| of Greater Macedonia Baptist Church on the joyous occasion of its | ||
| 100th anniversary; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for | ||
| the church as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. | ||
