SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 191
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas takes pleasure in
  welcoming the citizens of Crockett County on the occasion of
  Crockett County Day; and
 
         WHEREAS, Crockett County was organized in 1891 and bears
  the name of beloved Alamo defender David Crockett; the county
  seat of Ozona is its only town; and
 
         WHEREAS, The traditional pursuits of ranching, the oil
  business, hunting, and tourism have shaped this county's economy
  for decades; Crockett County is also among the nation's leading
  producers of mohair and wool; and
 
         WHEREAS, This rugged West Texas region is home to Fort
  Lancaster, which once served as an outpost to protect settlers
  and troop movements between San Antonio and El Paso; today, Fort
  Lancaster is a historic site; and
 
         WHEREAS, Crockett County has long been a repository of
  Native American artifacts and pioneer memorabilia, and
  fascinating mementos of this grand heritage can be found in the
  Crockett County Museum; now, therefore, be it
 
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd
  Legislature, hereby commend the citizens of Crockett County and
  extend to them best wishes for a memorable celebration of
  Crockett County Day in 2013; and, be it further
 
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  the citizens of Crockett County as an expression of high regard
  from the Texas Senate.
