Melvin K. Price, Jr. | ||
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and | ||
commemorates the life of Melvin K. Price, Jr., who died November | ||
4, 2012, at the age of 78; and | ||
WHEREAS, Mel Price was born November 11, 1933, in Wichita | ||
Falls; he married Sherrel Burton in 1960, and the couple raised | ||
four daughters, Sherri, Terry, Kelly, and Monica, who were a | ||
source of much pride and joy and who blessed them with six | ||
grandchildren and a great-grandchild; and | ||
WHEREAS, A veteran of the United States Army, Mr. Price was | ||
the co-owner and general manager of KDXE-FM radio and served as a | ||
college professor; he was active with numerous community | ||
organizations and served on the boards of Crime Stoppers and the | ||
food bank; he also worked with the American Cancer Society, the | ||
Hopkins County Chamber of Commerce, and the Rotary Club, and he | ||
was involved in a mentoring program at Sulphur Springs Middle | ||
School; and | ||
WHEREAS, A man of strength, integrity, and courage, he gave | ||
unselfishly to others, and his wisdom, warmth, and generous | ||
spirit will not be forgotten by those who were privileged to | ||
share in his life; and | ||
WHEREAS, | ||
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd | ||
Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved | ||
family of Melvin K. Price, Jr.; and, be it further | ||
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for | ||
his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas | ||
Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in | ||
memory of Melvin Price, Jr. | ||
