| WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to | ||
| recognize Louis B. Marks on the occasion of his 87th birthday; | ||
| and | ||
| WHEREAS, Louis Marks was born February 10, 1924, in | ||
| Sherman; following his graduation from Kempner Military Academy, | ||
| he served with honor and distinction in the United States Army | ||
| Air Forces during World War II; and | ||
| WHEREAS, After the war, Mr. Marks returned to his native | ||
| state and attended The University of Texas, where he became | ||
| involved in Longhorn football; he forged a special, lifelong | ||
| friendship with Coach Fred Akers and continues to support | ||
| Longhorn athletics to this day; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Mr. Marks worked for some time in the burlap bag | ||
| industry in Houston before helping to build a series of public | ||
| warehousing businesses, for which he served as president for 25 | ||
| years; since his retirement, he has enjoyed improving his golf | ||
| game in Houston and in Horseshoe Bay; and | ||
| WHEREAS, He is the proud father of three children, Garey, | ||
| Jeanne, and Janie, who have blessed him with six grandchildren | ||
| and two great-granddaughters; and | ||
| WHEREAS, A beloved and respected member of his community, | ||
| he is known for his wisdom, his compassion, and his enthusiasm | ||
| for living each day to the fullest; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd | ||
| Legislature, hereby commend Louis Bernard Marks on his many | ||
| achievements and extend to him best wishes for his 87th birthday; | ||
| and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for | ||
| him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. | ||
