SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 637
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  recognize Louis B. Marks on the occasion of his 87th birthday;
  and
         WHEREAS, Louis Marks was born February 10, 1924, in
  Sherman; following his graduation from Kempner Military Academy,
  he served with honor and distinction in the United States Army
  Air Forces during World War II; and
         WHEREAS, After the war, Mr. Marks returned to his native
  state and attended The University of Texas, where he became
  involved in Longhorn football; he forged a special, lifelong
  friendship with Coach Fred Akers and continues to support
  Longhorn athletics to this day; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Marks worked for some time in the burlap bag
  industry in Houston before helping to build a series of public
  warehousing businesses, for which he served as president for 25
  years; since his retirement, he has enjoyed improving his golf
  game in Houston and in Horseshoe Bay; and
         WHEREAS, He is the proud father of three children, Garey,
  Jeanne, and Janie, who have blessed him with six grandchildren
  and two great-granddaughters; and
         WHEREAS, A beloved and respected member of his community,
  he is known for his wisdom, his compassion, and his enthusiasm
  for living each day to the fullest; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd
  Legislature, hereby commend Louis Bernard Marks on his many
  achievements and extend to him best wishes for his 87th birthday;
  and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
