Roger Lee Jones | ||
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the | ||
citizens of Dallas in mourning the loss of Roger Lee Jones, who | ||
died January 23, 2017, at the age of 68; and | ||
WHEREAS, Roger Jones was born on August 15, 1948, and he | ||
was raised in the Joppa community of Dallas; he received his | ||
early education in Dallas County schools, and he graduated from | ||
John F. Kennedy High School; and | ||
WHEREAS, Mr. Jones earned a bachelor of arts degree in | ||
history and a master of arts degree in urban affairs from The | ||
University of Texas at Arlington; he worked in urban development | ||
for the Cities of Fort Worth and Arlington and for Neighborhood | ||
Housing Services of Dallas, and he served as a consultant across | ||
the country when he began working with the Developmental Training | ||
Institute in Baltimore, Maryland; and | ||
WHEREAS, In 2004, Mr. Jones brought his wealth of knowledge | ||
to the Texas Legislature as a legislative aide for Senator Royce | ||
West; during his two years of service, he provided invaluable | ||
advice in such areas as economic development and business and | ||
commerce, and he created the review procedure for Housing Tax | ||
Credit applications; and | ||
WHEREAS, Roger Jones was a loving father who was widely | ||
respected for his service on behalf of communities in Texas and | ||
throughout the nation; he was beloved by many, and he leaves | ||
behind memories that will long be cherished by all who were | ||
privileged to share in his life; now, therefore, be it | ||
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th | ||
Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved | ||
family of Roger Lee Jones; and, be it further | ||
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for | ||
his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas | ||
Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in | ||
memory of Roger Jones. | ||
