| WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to | ||
| recognize Fred Chapal on the joyous occasion of his 90th | ||
| birthday; and | ||
| WHEREAS, This distinguished gentleman is well known for | ||
| his wisdom and generous spirit, and he is a respected and admired | ||
| citizen of San Antonio; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Fred Chapal was born on June 12, 1923; exactly 20 | ||
| years later, he took the oath of enlistment to join the United | ||
| States Army; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Mr. Chapal served as a gunner with Company A of | ||
| the 87th Chemical Mortar Battalion and saw extensive combat | ||
| action during World War II in the Normandy, Northern France, | ||
| Ardennes, Rhineland, and Central Europe campaigns; his awards | ||
| and decorations for his distinguished military service include | ||
| the European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with silver | ||
| star and the World War II Victory Medal; and | ||
| WHEREAS, He has enjoyed a long and fulfilling career in | ||
| federal civilian service in the field of information technology | ||
| with the Directorate of Information Management at Fort Sam | ||
| Houston; today, at the age of 90, he continues to serve his | ||
| country as a technical supply logistician at Joint Base San | ||
| Antonio's Network Enterprise Center; and | ||
| WHEREAS, A beloved and respected member of his community, | ||
| he is noted for his courage, his vitality, his good humor, and his | ||
| enthusiasm for living each day to the fullest; now, therefore, be | ||
| it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, | ||
| 83rd Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby commend Fred Chapal | ||
| on his exemplary military service on behalf of his country and | ||
| his successful career in the field of information technology and | ||
| extend to him best wishes on the grand occasion of his 90th | ||
| birthday; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for | ||
| him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. | ||
