| WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to | ||
| join Texans across the state in expressing pride and admiration | ||
| for the heroism exhibited by Kyle Sulak; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Mr. Sulak, a third-year student at the Texas | ||
| College of Osteopathic Medicine, was leaving his home when he | ||
| heard cries for help from a nearby neighbor, whose hands and legs | ||
| were on fire as he fled his house; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Mr. Sulak had managed to extinguish the flames | ||
| using water from an outdoor faucet when he heard the man's young | ||
| daughter calling for help from an upstairs window; he instructed | ||
| his wife to call 9-1-1 and rushed back to the house; he | ||
| encountered the man's son standing frozen in the entryway and was | ||
| able to calm him down enough to get him to help his sister escape; | ||
| he then led the neighbor's mother from the kitchen to safety | ||
| outside; and | ||
| WHEREAS, After ensuring that no one else was in danger, Mr. | ||
| Sulak reentered the house and put out the fire; he also kept cold | ||
| water on the man's burns until help arrived; and | ||
| WHEREAS, As a result of his coolheadedness and remarkable | ||
| poise, his ability to prioritize, and his quick response, Mr. | ||
| Sulak prevented what might have been grievous loss of life and | ||
| property; he is truly deserving of recognition for his heroic | ||
| action; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, | ||
| 83rd Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby commend Kyle Sulak | ||
| on his quick thinking and calm action and extend its appreciation | ||
| to this admirable young man; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for | ||
| him as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate. | ||
