HOUSE BILL NO. 1270 Offered January 17, 2014 A BILL to direct the Center for Rural Virginia created, pursuant to Virginia Code 2.2-2720, to prepare a rural broadband underserved area report. ---------- Patron-- Minchew ---------- Committee Referral Pending ----------

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. §1. The Center for Rural Virginia, created pursuant to Virginia Code 2.2-2720, is directed together with the Secretary of Agriculture and Forestry and the Secretary of Technology to prepare a rural broadband underserved area report that could be used to determine appropriate tax credit concepts and other regulatory measures to provide heightened broadband coverage to underserved rural areas in Virginia. The Center for Rural Virginia shall provide the report to members of the General Assembly, the Chairman of the House Science and Technology Committee, and the Chairman of the Senate General Laws and Technology Committee no later than October 15, 2014.
