A BILL to amend the Code of Virginia by adding in Chapter 9 of Title 9.1 a section numbered 9.1-923, relating to sex offender registry; written notice of law to persons required to register.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1.  That the Code of Virginia is amended by adding in Chapter 9 of Title 9.1 a section numbered 9.1-923 as follows:

§ 9.1-923. Notification of laws to persons for whom registration is required.

Every person required to register or reregister pursuant to this chapter shall be provided with a copy of all laws applicable to the requirements placed upon such person due to his inclusion in the Registry once per year upon his registration or reregistration. The Attorney General shall approve the list of laws that shall be provided, and such list shall be printed from the Department of State Police website and given directly to the person along with his receipt of registry. A disclaimer shall be added to the receipt acknowledging that the person has received such information.
