Celebrating the life of Herbert Simon Claybrook, Jr.

WHEREAS, Herbert Simon Claybrook, Jr., a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and beloved member of his local community, died peacefully on January 8, 2024, in Slidell, Louisiana; and

WHEREAS, Herbert Claybrook was born on October 17, 1953, in New Site, Alabama, to his loving parents, the late Herbert Claybrook, Sr., and Winnie Lee Claybrook; and

WHEREAS, Herbert Claybrook, Jr., graduated from Auburn University with a bachelor's degree in business and later from the University of Alabama in Birmingham with a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering; and

WHEREAS, after completing his college education, Herbert Claybrook pursued a career in electrical engineering and retired from Lockheed Martin after 30 years of dedicated service; and

WHEREAS, Herbert Claybrook maintained a lifelong passion for sports and was a ferocious supporter of the Auburn Tigers; his other favorite hobbies included gardening, travel, and listening to music; and

WHEREAS, Herbert Claybrook was a dedicated member of Grace Memorial Baptist Church in Slidell; and

WHEREAS, Herbert Claybrook was a devoted husband to his wife of 43 years, Connie, and a committed father to their daughter, Karissa; and

WHEREAS, predeceased by his brother, Billy Joe, Herbert Claybrook will be fondly remembered and dearly missed by his wife, Connie; his daughter, Karissa; his granddaughter, Arabelle; his two sisters, Winnie and Carol; and numerous other family members and friends; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby note with great sadness the loss of Herbert Simon Claybrook, Jr., a devoted husband, father, brother, and dedicated community leader; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Herbert Simon Claybrook, Jr., as an expression of the General Assembly's respect for his memory.
