Commending Patrick A. Joyce.

WHEREAS, Patrick A. Joyce, an honorable veteran who has lived in the Commonwealth since 2007, was born on November 29, 1968, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; and

WHEREAS, Patrick Joyce earned both undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of Pennsylvania, where he was a member of the Phi Beta Kappa honor society and graduated magna cum laude; and

WHEREAS, Patrick Joyce bravely served in the United States Army during Operation Desert Storm of the Persian Gulf War; he distinguished himself in the United States Military Intelligence Corps, with which he served as a combat electronic warfare intelligence tactical team lead; and

WHEREAS, upon his honorable discharge from military service, Patrick Joyce has devoted his career to assisting the national intelligence community, allied governments, aerospace defense contractors, and Global 2000 companies in identifying and mitigating supply chain and industrial base risks; and

WHEREAS, Patrick Joyce is a globally recognized and respected leader in his field, having been regularly invited to brief the United States National Security Council and congressional leaders on issues of greatest importance to our nation's defense, its economic competitiveness, and its industrial resiliency; and

WHEREAS, Patrick Joyce ardently supports and works closely with veterans' nonprofit organizations to assist returning veterans' reintegration into civilian life and provide educational and recreational opportunities to military families; and

WHEREAS, Patrick Joyce's philanthropic work includes serving as a patron of Hero Homes, Inc., as a member of the board of advisors of the Rick Herrema Foundation, and as a champion of wildlife habitat conservation; and

WHEREAS, Patrick Joyce is a great American, a patriot, and an adopted son of the Commonwealth; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend Patrick A. Joyce for his dedication to duty and faithful service to the United States and its allies, to the Commonwealth, and to the United States military veteran community; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Patrick A. Joyce as an expression of the General Assembly's admiration for his contributions to our country and to the Commonwealth.
