HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 19 Commending the Tabb High School field hockey team.

Agreed to by the House of Delegates, January 15, 2010 Agreed to by the Senate, January 21, 2010

WHEREAS, the 2009 Tabb High School field hockey team from York County finished its second straight undefeated season and took home its second straight Virginia High School League Group AA state field hockey championship; and

WHEREAS, on its way to the championship game, the Tabb High School field hockey team defeated Grafton High School (3 - 0) in the semifinal game; and

WHEREAS, the Tabb Tigers met the Yellow Jackets from James Monroe High School for the second straight year in the state championship game; and

WHEREAS, the Tabb Tigers soundly defeated the Yellow Jackets (5 - 0) before an enthusiastic crowd at the U.S. Field Hockey National Training Center in Virginia Beach; and

WHEREAS, the talented 2009 team was led in the championship game by Krista Meyers, who scored three goals, and Julia Aymonin, who scored two goals; and

WHEREAS, two other players broke Virginia High School League records during the 2009 season: Erika Euker for most assists in a career and Danielle Brookover for consecutive shutouts; and

WHEREAS, the Tabb field hockey team outscored its opposition 162 - 2 this season, passing the margin that the powerhouse Frank W. Cox High School team set in 1995; and

WHEREAS, the dominance of the Tabb High School field hockey team is due to the hard work of the players, the leadership of Head Coach Wendy Wilson, and the support of Tabb High School; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend and congratulate the Tigers from Tabb High School on their outstanding 2009 season and on winning their second straight Virginia High School League Group AA state field hockey championship; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Head Coach Wendy Wilson as an expression of the General Assembly's admiration for the championship performance of the 2009 Tabb High School field hockey team.
