HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 325
Celebrating the life of Robert W. Haskins.

WHEREAS, Robert W. Haskins, a well-known educator and farmer in Danville, died on June 21, 2023; and

WHEREAS, Robert "Bob" W. Haskins was born and raised in North Carolina and graduated from Goldsboro High School; he earned a bachelor's degree from East Carolina University, where he was a standout member of the track team, and completed graduate studies at the University of Virginia, Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, and Lynchburg College; and

WHEREAS, Bob Haskins pursued a long and fulfilling 42-year career with Danville Public Schools; he served as principal of four schools: Edwin A. Gibson Middle School, O.T. Bonner Middle School, George Washington High School, and the former Stonewall Jackson Elementary School; and

WHEREAS, during his tenure with Danville Public Schools, Bob Haskins also served as director of finance for the school division; and

WHEREAS, Bob Haskins lived and worked on his family farm in Dry Fork and helped raise Hanoverian foals with his daughter, Angie, and her husband, Jim; and

WHEREAS, Bob Haskins also spent time playing golf, running, collecting Native American artifacts, and carving wooden canes and walking sticks; and

WHEREAS, Bob Haskins relished every opportunity to support his children and grandchildren in all of their endeavors; and

WHEREAS, Bob Haskins enjoyed fellowship and worship with the community as a longtime member of Trinity United Methodist Church and he proudly expressed his faith through inspirational posts online; and

WHEREAS, Bob Haskins will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by his beloved wife of 60 years, Ann; his three children, Bryan, Carrie, and Angie, and their families; and numerous other family members and friends; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby note with great sadness the loss of Robert W. Haskins, a highly admired member of the Danville community; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Robert W. Haskins as an expression of the General Assembly's respect for his memory.
