HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 331
Commending Barry Foskit.

WHEREAS, Barry Foskit of Gloucester has proudly served his country for 30 years as a member of the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary, helping to safeguard the Commonwealth's waterways and ensure that all boaters have a safe and enjoyable time on the water; and

WHEREAS, as the civilian arm of the United States Coast Guard, the Coast Guard Auxiliary promotes boating safety in several ways; members teach safe boating classes, conduct courtesy vessel exams to ensure that boats meet safety equipment requirements, and participate in safety and security patrols on local waters; and

WHEREAS, Barry Foskit joined Flotilla 64 of the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary on June 16, 1986; he has made many valuable contributions over the years as an active volunteer member and has held various appointed and elected offices; and

WHEREAS, currently, Barry Foskit is the staff officer for marine safety for Flotilla 64; he has also taught boating safety classes, performed safety checks on boats, and taken part in the flotilla's safety and security patrols on the waterways around Gloucester; and

WHEREAS, Barry Foskit represents the dedication to service shown by volunteers throughout the Commonwealth; his selfless commitment to the Coast Guard Auxiliary helps protect the thousands of people who work and enjoy leisure time on the creeks, rivers, and bays of Tidewater Virginia; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend Barry Foskit of Gloucester for his 30 years of outstanding service as a member of Flotilla 64 of the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Barry Foskit as an expression of the General Assembly's respect and admiration for his dedicated work to educate boaters and keep the waterways of the Commonwealth safe for all to enjoy.
