Commending Super Carlin Brothers.

WHEREAS, for more than a decade, Super Carlin Brothers, a popular YouTube channel created by Jonathan and Benjamin Carlin of Roanoke, has captivated hundreds of millions of viewers worldwide through its engaging content and given back to the Roanoke community in a variety of ways; and

WHEREAS, Jonathan Carlin, a graduate of Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, and Benjamin Carlin, a graduate of Radford University, established Super Carlin Brothers as a daily video blog in 2012; and

WHEREAS, Super Carlin Brothers scored its first major hit with its viral "Pixar Theory" video, an in-depth breakdown of a theory by author Jon Negroni about how every Pixar film fits into the same timeline in one universe; and

WHEREAS, Jonathan and Benjamin Carlin made Super Carlin Brothers their full-time job in 2016, and their signature sign-on "Hey, brother" has become synonymous with expert theories on other popular fandoms like Harry Potter, Disney, Marvel, and Star Wars; the channel has achieved more than 600 million views, 10 million of which are for the original "Pixar Theory" video; and

WHEREAS, Super Carlin Brothers received the coveted YouTube Gold Play Button award upon reaching one million subscribers, and as of 2024, the channel's fan base has grown to more than two million subscribers around the globe; the channel has also cultivated partnerships with Disney, Wizarding World Digital, and other prestigious entertainment organizations; and

WHEREAS, in addition to Super Carlin Brothers, Jonathan and Benjamin Carlin started a gaming channel, Super Carlin Gaming, and various other vlogs, all of which account for an additional 200,000 YouTube subscribers; they also have thousands of patrons on Patreon, who receive exclusive merchandise and audio and video content; and

WHEREAS, Jonathan and Benjamin Carlin's weekly podcast, Popcorn Culture, has been downloaded more than three million times since it was created in 2019 and was ranked as the number one podcast in Roanoke in 2022; and

WHEREAS, in 2018, Jonathan and Benjamin Carlin founded Carlin Brothers Coffee, an online company that sells coffee, tea, hot chocolate, mugs, candles, and other items; the business partnered with Feya Foundation, a nonprofit organization that provides resources to end world hunger, to donate one meal for every order made on their website, now well over 20,000 meals; and

WHEREAS, through their various businesses, Jonathan and Benjamin Carlin have raised more than $100,000 to support other charitable organizations, including Feeding Southwest Virginia, the NAACP Legal Defense Fund, the It Gets Better Project, Project for Awesome, the Trevor Project, the Roanoke Diversity Club, and more; and

WHEREAS, Jonathan and Benjamin Carlin have been passionate advocates for the Roanoke Valley community and have promoted the region to their audiences all over the world; both brothers are avid hikers, mountain-bikers, and outdoor aficionados, and proceeds from the Nimbus Bike Blend at Carlin Brothers Coffee have supported construction and maintenance of bike trails in the region; and

WHEREAS, among many other awards and accolades, Jonathan and Benjamin Carlin were featured in The Roanoker magazine's 40 under 40 column in 2023 and they have been honored as the Best Social Media Presence, two-time Best Podcast, and the Local Company that Gives Back by the magazine; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend Super Carlin Brothers, an acclaimed YouTube channel, for more than 10 years of accomplishments in social media and community service; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Jonathan and Benjamin Carlin, creators of Super Carlin Brothers, as an expression of the General Assembly's admiration for their incredible achievements in business and social media and outstanding contributions to the Roanoke community.
