HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 380
Commending the Jennifer Bush-Lawson Foundation.

WHEREAS, the Jennifer Bush-Lawson Foundation honors the memory of the late Jennifer Bush-Lawson by providing access to medical services, counseling, and support for at-risk mothers-to-be, newborn babies, and postpartum mothers; and

WHEREAS, throughout all three of her pregnancies, Jennifer Bush-Lawson of Arlington was challenged by gestational diabetes and hypertension, and all three of her children, Cooper, Booker, and Sadie, were born prematurely and required additional care in a neonatal intensive care unit; and

WHEREAS, Jennifer Bush-Lawson realized that not all mothers have access to the high-quality care that kept her and her children healthy, and she resolved to try to make a difference in the lives of mothers who are not so fortunate; and

WHEREAS, after Jennifer Bush-Lawson's tragic death in 2014, the Jennifer Bush-Lawson Foundation was established to honor her legacy of generosity and compassion, and the organization has since helped more than 3,500 families; and

WHEREAS, since its inception, the Jennifer Bush-Lawson Foundation has raised more than $1 million and written grants for more than $300,000 in grant funding to ensure low-income mothers can access health care that meets their needs; and

WHEREAS, the Jennifer Bush-Lawson Foundation has subsidized transportation for more than 250 low-income and uninsured mothers to get to and from prenatal appointments; and

WHEREAS, the Jennifer Bush-Lawson Foundation has donated hundreds of pack and plays, strollers, baby carriers, breastfeeding supplies, and car seats since 2017 and provided thousands of meals to feed pregnant women and their families during the COVID-19 pandemic; and

WHEREAS, the Jennifer Bush-Lawson Foundation raised funds to launch a telemedicine pilot program and OB Connect at-home monitoring service, allowing low-income mothers to better monitor their pregnancies and manage high-risk conditions such as hypertension and gestational diabetes; and

WHEREAS, the Jennifer Bush-Lawson Foundation strives to create an opportunity for a fair start for every mother and child in the region, regardless of race, color, creed, or economic status; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend the Jennifer Bush-Lawson Foundation on the occasion of its 10th anniversary; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the Jennifer Bush-Lawson Foundation as an expression of the General Assembly's admiration for the organization's contributions to mothers, babies, and families in the Commonwealth.
