WHEREAS, the Radford High School boys' basketball team thrilled fans at the Virginia Commonwealth University Stuart C. Siegel Center by winning the 2012 - 2013 Virginia High School League Group A, Division 2 state championship on March 9, 2013; and

WHEREAS, capping off a nearly undefeated regular season, the Radford High School Bobcats captured their third victory in the state tournament in five years; and

WHEREAS, the Radford High School Bobcats won the Region C championship and defeated Virginia High School and Essex High School to advance to the state finals, where they defeated Gate City High School by a score of 72 - 58; and

WHEREAS, the Radford High School Bobcats displayed exceptional focus and determination throughout the season and championship games; and

WHEREAS, scoring for the Radford Bobcats were D'Andre Cook with 20 points, Josh Little with 16 points, Isaiah Phillips with 14 points, Nate Jones with nine points, Marcus Finley with seven points, Zach Bradley with four points, and Drew Cox with two points; and

WHEREAS, the entire team—D'Andre Cook, Monari Gichana, Anthony Miano, Marcus Finley, Nate Jones, Josh Little, R. J. Jordan, Isaiah Phillips, Eli Facemire, Luke Wheeler, Drew Cox, and Zach Bradley—worked hard throughout the season and tournament play; and

WHEREAS, the Radford High School boys' basketball team thrived under the leadership of head coach, Rick Cormany; assistant coaches, Ben Fisher, who also coaches eighth grade basketball, Tommy Hilton, and Bill Nichols; strength coach Danny Fleisher; junior varsity coaches, Jeff Little and Bev Davis; and eighth grade coach, Andrew Crowder; and

WHEREAS, the Radford High School boys' basketball team enjoyed the support of school superintendent, Dr. Becky Greer; assistant superintendent, Rob Graham; principal, Jeff Smith; assistant principal, Mike Brown; and athletic director, Greg Wade; and students, parents, and fans; and

WHEREAS, the successful season of the Radford High School boys' basketball team is due to the hard work of the players, the leadership of the coaching staff, and the support of the students, administration, and fans of Radford High School; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend the Radford High School boys' basketball team on winning the 2012 - 2013 Virginia High School League Group A, Division 2 state championship; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Rick Cormany, head coach of the Radford High School boys' basketball team, as an expression of the General Assembly's admiration for the team's talent, perseverance, and dedication.
