WHEREAS, David P. Klisz, an outstanding investigator in the Hanover County Sheriff's Office, was recognized as the 2009 Virginia Deputy of the Year by the Virginia Sheriff's Association; and WHEREAS, a veteran of the Chesterfield County Sheriff's Office, David Klisz joined the Hanover County Sheriff's Office in 1998 as a patrol officer; and WHEREAS, for the past seven years, David Klisz has served as an investigator in the General Investigative Division; he is also a member of the FBI's Innocent Images Task Force and the Assistant Team Leader of the Crisis Negotiation Team; and WHEREAS, Investigator Klisz was recognized for his prowess and perseverance in missing person cases in addition to his dedication and professional manner in conducting all his cases; and WHEREAS, Investigator Klisz' tenacity in keeping a missing person case alive through furnishing news releases, working with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children programs, and sharing information with other agencies resulted in the location of a missing juvenile; and WHEREAS, when a human skull was found in Hanover County in 2009, Investigator Klisz used innovative ways to link the remains with those of a man missing since 2000 and persevered until the remains were identified; and WHEREAS, Investigator Klisz also investigates sex crimes, elder abuse, and crimes against children, working to protect the most innocent and vulnerable segments of the population; and WHEREAS, Investigator Klisz' compassion for the victims and their families is matched only by his resolve and ingenuity in attempting to bring challenging cases to a close; and WHEREAS, a stalwart public servant, Investigator Klisz has demonstrated great commitment to protecting his fellow citizens and is a worthy recipient of the Virginia Deputy of the Year Award; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly commend David P. Klisz for his recognition as the 2009 Virginia Deputy of the Year by the Virginia Sheriff's Association; and, be it RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to David P. Klisz as an expression of the General Assembly's congratulations and respect for his commitment to the people of Hanover County and the Commonwealth. |
