WHEREAS, Magnolia Austin Latney, a former educator and beloved member of the Richmond community, died on July 22, 2023; and
WHEREAS, Magnolia Latney graduated from the former Virginia Randolph High School in 1961; and
WHEREAS, Magnolia Latney pursued a long and fulfilling career with Richmond Public Schools and gave generations of students the tools they needed to become lifelong learners; and
WHEREAS, Magnolia Latney retired from Richmond Public Schools after 34 years of service; and
WHEREAS, a woman of deep and abiding faith, Magnolia Latney enjoyed fellowship and worship with the community as a member of New Bridge Baptist Church for 71 years; and
WHEREAS, Magnolia Latney will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by her husband of 51 years, William; her children, Gavin, Michael, Keith, Michelle, and Terri, and their families; and numerous other family members and friends; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Delegates hereby note with great sadness the loss of Magnolia Austin Latney; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Magnolia Austin Latney as an expression of the House of Delegates' respect for her memory.
