Commending Denise Johnson.

WHEREAS, Denise Johnson, chair of the Transit Riders Advisory Committee, a subcommittee under the executive committee of the Transportation District Commission of Hampton Roads, the governing body of Hampton Roads Transit, has worked tirelessly to improve transit in Hampton Roads for several years; and

WHEREAS, as chair of the Transit Riders Advisory Committee (TRAC), established in 2009, Denise Johnson leads a group of volunteer citizens who provide Hampton Roads Transit (HRT) with feedback and recommendations for improving its operations and service, while also facilitating communication between the agency and its customers; and

WHEREAS, as TRAC chair, Denise Johnson serves as the chief advocate for the concerns expressed by HRT's fixed-route customers and as a primary source of information for all riders; and

WHEREAS, Denise Johnson and TRAC consistently provide meaningful feedback and advice to HRT's Customer Service Division for dissemination to transit service planners and the agency's various departments; and

WHEREAS, Denise Johnson and TRAC function annually as the primary survey data collectors for surveys by the American Bus Benchmarking Group; GOAL–the Benchmarking Group of North American Light Rail Systems; and TransitCenter; and

WHEREAS, Denise Johnson and TRAC routinely assist customers with information on trip planning and transportation options, aiding countless people on their journeys to work and home; and

WHEREAS, in her role as TRAC chair, Denise Johnson periodically engages with key stakeholders and government leaders at the municipal, state, and federal level on behalf of HRT customers, while also attending public and community meetings on behalf of HRT; and

WHEREAS, Denise Johnson also serves as a member of HRT's Smart Cities & Innovation Committee, evaluating and overseeing smart city and innovation policies, projects, and opportunities on behalf of HRT; and

WHEREAS, Denise Johnson has demonstrated exceptional knowledge, care, diligence, dedication, and professionalism in her work as she embodies what is possible through representative volunteer leadership; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Denise Johnson hereby be commended for her service as chair of the Transit Riders Advisory Committee of Hampton Roads Transit; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Denise Johnson as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for her noteworthy contributions to the Commonwealth.
