WHEREAS, Courtney Markowski, a member of the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office crossing guard team, was named one of the Commonwealth's Most Outstanding Crossing Guards by the Department of Transportation in 2023 as part of Crossing Guard Appreciation Day; and
WHEREAS, Courtney Markowski has served as a crossing guard at Round Hill Elementary School for the past 11 years, working tirelessly and with a great sense of purpose to ensure the safety and well-being of the school's students and families; and
WHEREAS, Courtney Markowski has reliably carried out her post through rain or shine over the years, exuding a positive and encouraging attitude that has been a bright spot in the lives of countless students and parents; and
WHEREAS, Courtney Markowski demonstrates extraordinary care and attention to the needs of the students and families she assists, as her presence at Round Hill Elementary School has become an uplifting part of many people's days; and
WHEREAS, Courtney Markowski announced her intention to retire at the end of the previous school year, but as a testament to her deep commitment to her students, deferred her retirement when a replacement guard was not hired by the start of the next year; and
WHEREAS, Courtney Markowski is part of the crossing guard team at the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office that has been a pioneer in crisis intervention training, improving the agency's ability to serve the entire Loudoun County community; and
WHEREAS, through her unflagging commitment to the safety and well-being of the students under her care, Courtney Markowski has helped to make Loudoun County a more wonderful place to live, work, and learn; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Courtney Markowski hereby be commended for being named one of the Commonwealth's Most Outstanding Crossing Guards in 2023; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Courtney Markowski as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for her dedicated service in support of students and families of the Commonwealth.
