HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 241
Commending Robert Carter Redman III.

Agreed to by the House of Delegates, February 13, 2015

WHEREAS, Robert Carter Redman III, a sophomore at Poquoson High School and a hardworking member of Boy Scouts of America Troop 28, attained the rank of Eagle Scout in 2015; and

WHEREAS, only a limited number of Scouts meet the standards of excellence necessary to achieve the rank of Eagle Scout; Carter Redman met and exceeded the requirements by earning 24 merit badges, demonstrating Scout spirit and leadership in his troop, and planning and completing a service project; and

WHEREAS, Carter Redman is an active leader in Boy Scouts of America Troop 28 in Poquoson; he updates and maintains the troop's website as troop webmaster, and he guides other scouts in the methods to protect and preserve the environment as a Leave No Trace trainer; and

WHEREAS, for his Eagle Scout project, Carter Redman developed a plan to restore more than 90 parking lot bumpers at Tabernacle United Methodist Church, saving the church thousands of dollars and creating safer, more attractive grounds; and

WHEREAS, a generous volunteer in the community, Carter Redman is active in his church, has participated in mission trips to Louisiana and Florida, and has served as an assistant youth basketball coach; he was elected by his Scouting peers to the Order of the Arrow, a national honor society for Scouts; and

WHEREAS, Carter Redman plans to attend Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University and pursue a degree in engineering or architecture; he will also continue to serve his fellow Scouts, his church, and his community; and

WHEREAS, Carter Redman exemplifies the ideals of the Boy Scouts of America and carried out a valuable service to the community through his Eagle Scout project; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Robert Carter Redman III hereby be commended for attaining the rank of Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts of America; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Robert Carter Redman III as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for his remarkable achievements and best wishes for the future.
