WHEREAS, Edward Paul Goff, a beloved husband and father and a longtime electrician who was passionate about his craft, died on October 31, 2023; and
WHEREAS, Edward "Eddie" Paul Goff was born in Lowell, Massachusetts, and later settled in Newport News; and
WHEREAS, Eddie Goff pursued a long and fulfilling career as an electrician and was proud of his legacy of service to clients and communities in the Mid-Atlantic region through the electrical contractor Power Solutions; and
WHEREAS, Eddie Goff advanced his career field by teaching electrical apprenticeship with the Hampton Roads Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee for 28 years, and he was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 1340 for 46 years; and
WHEREAS, Eddie Goff had a talent for building and fixing things for himself and others, which led to many lifelong friendships; and
WHEREAS, outside of his career and service to the community, Eddie Goff was also a Harley-Davidson motorcycle enthusiast; and
WHEREAS, Eddie Goff also enjoyed fellowship and worship with the congregation of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, where he was a member of the Circle of Hope group; and
WHEREAS, Eddie Goff was a devoted father who relished every opportunity to support his daughter, Jennifer, in all her endeavors and impart to her his work ethic and commitment to service; and
WHEREAS, Eddie Goff will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by his wife of 44 years, Sandra; his cherished daughter, Jennifer; and numerous other family members and friends; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Delegates hereby note with great sadness the loss of Edward Paul Goff, a highly admired member of the community in Newport News; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Edward Paul Goff as an expression of the House of Delegates' respect for his memory.
