WHEREAS, Old Ox Brewery, a family-owned craft beer brewery in Ashburn, opened in 2014 and has helped make Loudoun County a special place to live with its exceptional products and community involvement; and WHEREAS, located just off the Loudoun County Parkway and near the Washington & Old Dominion Trail, Old Ox Brewery takes its name from Old Ox Road, one of the oldest roads in Loudoun County, which originally connected the county's farmers to the surrounding region; and WHEREAS, Old Ox Brewery partners with local farmers to ensure fresh ingredients and cultivates strong relationships with restaurants, businesses, and retailers; Old Ox beers are available on tap at many restaurants in the region and from the brewery's on-site tasting room; and WHEREAS, in its 30-barrel brew house, Old Ox Brewery brews three core beers, a session India pale ale, a Belgian golden ale, and a rye porter, as well as seasonal and specialty beers; the brewery planned to produce more than 2,000 barrels in its first year, with a goal to increase annual production to 20,000 in the future; and WHEREAS, Old Ox Brewery represents the entrepreneurial spirit of Virginians and has contributed to the Commonwealth's stature as a producer of some of the nation's best craft beers; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Old Ox Brewery, a thriving startup brewery in Ashburn, hereby be commended on the occasion of its first anniversary in 2015; and, be it RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Old Ox Brewery as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for the brewery's success and best wishes for the future. |
