WHEREAS, Our Voices is an organization led by and comprised of people with developmental disabilities who live independently in their own homes in communities across Hampton Roads with support from Hope House Foundation; and
WHEREAS, Our Voices engages in self-advocacy and peer support for people with disabilities both regionally and across the Commonwealth; and
WHEREAS, Hope House Foundation is a nonprofit organization that provides in-home supports to adults with developmental and intellectual disabilities living in their own homes; and
WHEREAS, Hope House Foundation serves approximately 125 adults in Hampton Roads, and Our Voices supports people with developmental disabilities to share their stories with community members and local and state officials; and
WHEREAS, Our Voices has supported efforts to enhance provider capacity for individualized, integrated, person-centered support for people with disabilities; and
WHEREAS, Our Voices promotes the belief that people with developmental disabilities have a right to live their lives in the way they choose and inspires other members of the disability community to make their independent living goals a reality; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Our Voices hereby be commended for its work to serve and advocate for people with developmental disabilities in Hampton Roads; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Our Voices as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for the organization's accomplishments.
