HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 393 Commending the Lake Braddock Secondary School girls' gymnastics team.   Agreed to by the House of Delegates, March 8, 2024  

WHEREAS, the Lake Braddock Secondary School girls' gymnastics team of Burke won the Virginia High School League Class 6 state championship on February 16, 2023, at Lightridge High School in Aldie; and

WHEREAS, the Lake Braddock Secondary School Bruins tallied 151.85 total points in the competition, squeaking by the runner-up Battlefield High School Bobcats of Haymarket by less than four points to secure the program's second consecutive state title; and

WHEREAS, the Lake Braddock Bruins showed exceptional skill and prowess at the competition, with no gymnast receiving a score lower than 8.975 points out of 10 in any event; and

WHEREAS, on its journey to a state championship title, the Lake Braddock Bruins placed first in both the Patriot District and Occoquan regional meets; and

WHEREAS, the Lake Braddock Bruins were inspired throughout the day by the heroic performance from freshman Abby Parrish, who overcame illness to compete in the meet; and

WHEREAS, the accomplishments of the Lake Braddock Bruins serve as testament to the hard work and dedication of the student-athletes, the leadership and guidance of their coaches and teachers, and the unwavering support of their families and the entire Lake Braddock Secondary School community; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That the Lake Braddock Secondary School girls' gymnastics team hereby be commended for winning the 2023 Virginia High School League Class 6 state championship; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Mike Cooper, coach of the Lake Braddock Secondary School girls' gymnastics team, as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for the team's achievement.
