WHEREAS, Rashida J. Green, principal at Bucknell Elementary School, was named the Fairfax County Public Schools Region 3 Outstanding New Principal for 2023; and
WHEREAS, Rashida Green works tirelessly to realize the vision of Bucknell Elementary School to build collaborative relationships with students, parents, and the community; empower students to be confident lifelong learners; ensure high levels of learning for all students to succeed; and motivate, engage, and inspire students to be leaders that change the world; and
WHEREAS, a former student of Bucknell Elementary School herself, Rashida Green brings her experience growing up on Route 1 to her service now as principal, lifting up the strengths of the community and striving to ensure her students have equitable access to opportunities that allow them to fulfill their potential; and
WHEREAS, Rashida Green partnered with community members and the nonprofit organization Shoes That Fit to raise enough money to provide every Bucknell Bulldog with a new pair of shoes, bringing immense joy to her students and raising awareness about the need for properly fitting footwear; and
WHEREAS, Rashida Green brings immense passion, positivity, and purpose to fostering meaningful relationships throughout the Bucknell Elementary School community and to creating a strong sense of belonging for all students, families, and staff that serves as the foundation to the school's success; and
WHEREAS, Rashida Green supports and participates in professional training with staff and encourages leadership among teachers and staff so they can continue innovating and helping students achieve; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Rashida J. Green hereby be commended for being named the 2023 Fairfax County Public Schools Region 3 Outstanding New Principal; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Rashida J. Green as an expression of the House of Delegates' high regard for her contributions to the Commonwealth.
