WHEREAS, Cristina Procaccino, a Latin language teacher at Edison High School, was named the Fairfax County Public Schools Region 3 Outstanding Secondary School Teacher for 2023; and
WHEREAS, Cristina Procaccino develops lessons that immerse her students in Latin history and culture and improve their understanding of the language, while motivating and engaging their interest through regular contests and competitions; and
WHEREAS, Cristina Procaccino shares her knowledge with students outside of the classroom by mentoring students through the Edison High School Latin Club, Honor Society, Linguistics Club, and Linguistics League; and
WHEREAS, Cristina Procaccino makes learning fun by encouraging her students to take risks, while making sure they feel safe and supported; and
WHEREAS, Cristina Procaccino builds meaningful relationships with her students and their families, her colleagues, and also with feeder schools, universities, professional organizations, and youth and teachers worldwide; and
WHEREAS, Cristina Procaccino leads within her professional communities by presenting on collaboration, multilingualism, linguistics, and engagement in language classrooms; and
WHEREAS, Cristina Procaccino has been recognized for her subject matter expertise by being invited to share her knowledge at multiple national and local conferences, including as guest speaker at a National Science Foundation conference; and
WHEREAS, outside of her classroom, Cristina Procaccino is a lifelong learner, continuing her education and expanding her expertise; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Cristina Procaccino hereby be commended for being named the 2023 Fairfax County Public Schools Region 3 Outstanding Secondary School Teacher; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Cristina Procaccino as an expression of the General Assembly's high regard for her contributions to the Commonwealth.
