HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 514
Commending Clifton Grant Scarboro.

Agreed to by the House of Delegates, April 3, 2013

WHEREAS, Clifton Grant Scarboro, a senior at Franklin High School and member of Boy Scout Troop 17, has completed the requirements to attain the rank of Eagle Scout; and

WHEREAS, Grant Scarboro, the son of Bill and Becky Scarboro, has been in the Scouting program for many years; and

WHEREAS, Grant Scarboro attended Cub Scout Day Camp for five years and Webelos Camp for two—the first year at Camp Chickahominy and the second at Camp T. Brady Saunders; and

WHEREAS, Grant Scarboro attended camp for six years at Pipsico Scout Reservation and Bayport Scout Reservation; for two of the years at Bayport he worked on the Rivah Base program; and

WHEREAS, a leader in Boy Scout Troop 17, Grant Scarboro has served as senior patrol leader, Order of the Arrow troop representative, troop quartermaster, assistant patrol leader, and patrol quartermaster; and

WHEREAS, Grant Scarboro has also served as Nottoway chapter chief and vice chapter chief and currently serves as Elangomat committee chairman; and

WHEREAS, Grant Scarboro was elected to the Order of the Arrow in 2008, became a Brotherhood member in 2009, and was recognized with the Vigil Honor in the Order of the Arrow in 2011; and

WHEREAS, for his Eagle Scout project, Grant Scarboro designed and constructed shelves for the Franklin Cooperative Ministries' new location; and

WHEREAS, a well-rounded young man, Grant Scarboro plays baseball, golf, and football; serves as co-president of DECA, captain of the Scholastic Bowl and Robotics teams, and vice president of his class; he is a member of Future Problem Solving, the National Honor Society, and Franklin Baptist Church; and

WHEREAS, Grant Scarboro hopes to attend North Carolina State University to study mechanical engineering; and

WHEREAS, an outstanding young man, Grant Scarboro exemplifies the ideals of the Boy Scouts and has provided valuable community service through his Eagle Scout project; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Clifton Grant Scarboro hereby be commended on earning the rank of Eagle Scout; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Clifton Grant Scarboro as an expression of the House of Delegates' congratulations and admiration for his achievements and service to the community.
