HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 518
Commending William Addison Peak, Jr.

Agreed to by the House of Delegates, April 3, 2013

WHEREAS, William Addison Peak, Jr., a sophomore at Nansemond Suffolk Academy and member of Boy Scout Troop 17, earned the rank of Eagle Scout on October 7, 2012; and

WHEREAS, Addison Peak, the son of Bill and Cindy Peak, participated in the Scouting program for many years; and

WHEREAS, Addison Peak attended two years of Resident Summer Camp at Bayport Scout Reservation, one week of summer camp at Raven Knob Scout Reservation, and a week at Bayport Scout Reservation Rivah Base for a higher adventure experience; and

WHEREAS, an active member and leader of Boy Scout Troop 17, Addison Peak served as patrol leader, scribe, assistant senior patrol leader, and assistant patrol leader; camped 36 nights with the troop, and logged 45.5 service hours; and

WHEREAS, in 2010, Addison Peak earned the Jackson Clarke Fox Merit Badge Achievement Award for earning the most merit badges that year; the following year he was elected into the Order of the Arrow and attended the Ordeal; and

WHEREAS, for his Eagle Scout project, Addison Peak and others logged more than 120 hours refurbishing an office at the Franklin Baptist Church; and

WHEREAS, Addison Peak stripped the wallpaper and carpet, prepared the walls and floor, repainted the office, and installed laminate flooring; and

WHEREAS, a well-rounded young man, Addison Peak has maintained an "A" average while participating in the Interact Club, an international service club; playing football, lacrosse, and soccer; and swimming; and

WHEREAS, committed to helping out in the community, Addison Peak also started a club at Nansemond Suffolk Academy that supports Habitat for Humanity in its work to provide affordable housing to people in need; and

WHEREAS, an exemplary young man, Addison Peak personifies the values of the Boy Scouts and has provided valuable community service through his Eagle Scout project; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That William Addison Peak, Jr., hereby be commended on attaining the rank of Eagle Scout; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to William Addison Peak, Jr., as an expression of the House of Delegates' congratulations and admiration for his achievement and service to the community.
