HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 535
Celebrating the life of Grace Rebecca Mann.

Agreed to by the House of Delegates, August 17, 2015

WHEREAS, Grace Rebecca Mann, a beloved resident of McLean and student at the University of Mary Washington who worked to make the community stronger and more inclusive, died on April 17, 2015; and

WHEREAS, a junior at the University of Mary Washington, Grace Mann was a loyal friend and a staunch advocate for women's rights and the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and questioning community; and

WHEREAS, Grace Mann was pursuing a major in history and American studies and a minor in practical ethics; she served as a board member of Feminists United and the Student Government Association Senate; and

WHEREAS, earning the respect of faculty and administration, as well as her peers, Grace Mann was appointed to the University of Mary Washington President's Task Force on Sexual Assault; and

WHEREAS, Grace Mann will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by her parents, Thomas and Melissa, and numerous other family members and friends; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the House of Delegates hereby note with great sadness the loss of Grace Rebecca Mann, an advocate for equal rights and a beloved resident of McLean; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Grace Rebecca Mann as an expression of the House of Delegates' respect for her memory.
