WHEREAS, in 2010, Spotsylvania Regional Medical Center will open its doors to patients as HCA Virginia's newest facility, located on a 75-acre site southeast of the intersection of Interstate 95 and Route 17, and south of Fredericksburg near Massaponax; and WHEREAS, HCA Virginia Health System is the Commonwealth's fourth-largest private employer with a workforce of more than 13,500 people who work every day to improve the lives, health, and well-being of Virginia's citizens; and WHEREAS, HCA Virginia Health System provides quality health care through 12 acute care hospitals and 13 outpatient centers that are affiliates of HCA, Inc., the nation's leading provider of health care services; and WHEREAS, in becoming HCA Virginia's 13th general acute care hospital, Spotsylvania Regional Medical Center will improve health care delivery in the Rappahannock region by providing quality services in a 126-bed facility with all private rooms; and WHEREAS, committed to clinical excellence, Spotsylvania Regional Medical Center will offer 24-hour emergency care; diagnostic imaging such as CT, MRI, mammography, nuclear medicine, ultrasound, and EKG/EEG/EMG; inpatient and outpatient surgery; endoscopy and cystoscopy; intensive care; obstetrics, neonatal care, and neonatal intensive care; and cardiac catheterization; and WHEREAS, Spotsylvania Regional Medical Center will provide patients and physicians the latest features in hospital architecture, equipment, and operations, from the location and design of nursing stations, to bar-code-scanning methods that prevent medication errors, to a "paperless" environment; and WHEREAS, like all HCA Virginia Health System facilities, Spotsylvania Regional Medical Center will serve as a health care safety net by providing care to patients who are uninsured and do not have access to affordable health insurance; and WHEREAS, Spotsylvania Regional Medical Center will enhance economic development, generate substantial tax dollars, create over 400 jobs, and attract new physicians to practice medicine in Spotsylvania County; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend and congratulate HCA Virginia Health System on the near completion of its newest facility, the Spotsylvania Regional Medical Center, which will open in 2010, as well as for the health care company's longtime service to the Commonwealth; and, be it RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to HCA Virginia Health System as an expression of the General Assembly's gratitude to the organization for its steadfast commitment to provide quality health care for all Virginians. |
