WHEREAS, the Graham High School varsity competition cheer squad of Bluefield won the Virginia High School League Class 2 state championship at Virginia Commonwealth University's Stuart C. Siegel Center in Richmond on November 4, 2023; and
WHEREAS, after posting a score of 248.25 in the preliminary round and advancing to the second phase of the competition, the Graham High School cheer squad tallied a score of 267.5 to defeat the runner-up Glenvar High School cheer squad of Roanoke County by 29.5 points; and
WHEREAS, the Graham High School cheer squad performed a set of highly synchronized and choreographed routines at the state competition, displaying remarkable finesse and acrobatic ability; and
WHEREAS, the Graham High School cheer squad's victory was a total team effort, with every member contributing to the group's dynamic and awe-inspiring performance; and
WHEREAS, the accomplishments of the Graham High School cheer squad are the result of the hard work and dedication of the student-cheerleaders, the leadership and guidance of their coaches and teachers, and the unwavering support of their families and the entire Graham High School community; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the Senate of Virginia, That the Graham High School varsity competition cheer squad hereby be commended for winning the 2023 Virginia High School League Class 2 state championship; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the Graham High School varsity competition cheer squad as an expression of the Senate of Virginia's admiration for the squad's extraordinary achievement.
