A BILL to amend and reenact §18-3-9 of the Code of West Virginia,1931, as amended, relating to reducing the personnel of the State Department of Education by 25 percent.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of West Virginia:


ARTICLE 3. STATE SUPERINTENDENT OF SCHOOLS.


§18-3-9. State Department of Education.

(a) For carrying into effect the provisions of this chapter, the State Superintendent of Schools shall maintain a Department of Education at his or her office at the state Capitol, and he or she shall have authority to employ assistants and such other employees as may be necessary.

(b) By December 30, 2019, the State Superintendent of Schools shall reduce the number of personnel in every job classification employed in accordance with §18-3-9(a) of this code by 25 percent.


 

NOTE: The purpose of this bill is to reduce the number of personnel in every job classification within the State Department of Education by 25%.
