A BILL to amend and reenact §18-5-15b of the Code of West Virginia, 1931, as amended, relating to the pledge of allegiance to the flag of the United States in schools and adding the flag of West Virginia to the instructional day pledge.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of West Virginia:

 

ARTICLE 5. COUNTY BOARD OF EDUCATION.

§18-5-15b. Pledge of allegiance to the flag.

Every instructional day in the public schools of this state shall be commenced with a pledge of allegiance to the flag of the United States and the flag of West Virginia. Pupils who do not wish to participate in this exercise shall be excused from making such pledge.

 

NOTE: The purpose of this bill is to add the flag of West Virginia to the instructional day pledge of allegiance to the flag of the United States in schools.
