AN ACT

 

amending Title 15, chapter 14, Arizona Revised Statutes, by adding article 11; relating to community colleges and universities.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Arizona:

Section 1.  Title 15, chapter 14, Arizona Revised Statutes, is amended by adding article 11, to read:

ARTICLE 11.  CARRYING OF CONCEALED FIREARMS

START_STATUTE15-1896.  Carrying of concealed firearms by faculty members; definition

A.  Notwithstanding any other law, a faculty member may possess a concealed firearm on the grounds of a community college under the jurisdiction of a community college district, a provisional community college under the jurisdiction of a provisional community college district or a university under the jurisdiction of the Arizona board of regents if the faculty member possesses a valid permit issued pursuant To section 13-3112.

B.  For the purposes of this section, "faculty member" means a person who is employed by a community college under the jurisdiction of a community college district, a provisional community college under the jurisdiction of a provisional community college district or a university under the jurisdiction of the Arizona board of regents to conduct classroom or teaching activities and whose title includes professor, associate professor, assistant professor, instructor or lecturer.  Faculty member does not include any person who is in a position that is designated as a visiting, adjunct, research, clinical, teaching assistant or associate or research assistant or associate position.
