AN ACT

 

AMENDING section 15‑301, Arizona Revised Statutes; relating to county school superintendents.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Arizona:

Section 1.  Section 15-301, Arizona Revised Statutes, is amended to read:

START_STATUTE15-301.  Office of county school superintendent; qualifications; travel expenses

A.  A person is eligible for election as county school superintendent if the person holds a basic or standard certificate to teach in the schools of this state baccalaureate degree in any subject or an associate degree in business, finance or accounting.

B.  In addition to the salary allowed by law, the county school superintendent is eligible for reimbursement of travel expenses.

C.  The office of county school superintendent is designated as a local education agency for the purpose of serving as an education service agency that is eligible to receive and spend local, state and federal monies to provide programs and services to school districts, charter schools, county free library districts and municipal libraries within that county.

D.  The office of county school superintendent shall be under the jurisdiction of the elected county school superintendent. END_STATUTE
