An Act

 

amending title 16, chapter 4, article 1, Arizona Revised Statutes, by adding section 16-410.01; relating to conduct of elections.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Arizona:

Section 1. Title 16, chapter 4, article 1, Arizona Revised Statutes, is amended by adding section 16-410.01, to read:

START_STATUTE16-410.01. Hand counting; machine tabulation prohibited

NOTWITHSTANDING any other law, for each city, town and county election in this state, all votes shall be tabulated by hand. A city, town or county shall not use a tabulating machine to count votes.END_STATUTE

Sec. 2. Conforming legislation

The legislative council staff shall prepare proposed legislation conforming the Arizona Revised Statutes to the provisions of this act for consideration in the fifty-sixth legislature, second regular session.
