amending Title 18, Arizona Revised Statutes, by adding chapter 6; relating to information technology.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Arizona:

Section 1.  Title 18, Arizona Revised Statutes, is amended by adding chapter 6, to read:

CHAPTER 6

DATA COLLECTION

ARTICLE 1.  GENERAL PROVISIONS

START_STATUTE18-601.  Data collection; disclosure

Any website or software application, or its subsidiary, that collects data by using a microphone or camera must disclose to the user at the time of the request to use a device's microphone or camera the type of data that is being collected and the reason the data is being collected.  If the website or software application, or its subsidiary, uses the collected data for commercial purposes, this fact must be disclosed to the user at the time the user requests to use the microphone or camera.
