HOUSE BILL 2596

 

 

 

AN ACT

 

Amending title 15, chapter 5, article 1, Arizona Revised Statutes, by adding section 15-509; amending title 38, chapter 3, Arizona Revised Statutes, by adding article 1.1; relating to school employees.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Arizona:

Section 1.  Title 15, chapter 5, article 1, Arizona Revised Statutes, is amended by adding section 15-509, to read:

START_STATUTE15-509.  Teacher in-service training days; scheduling; definition

A.  If a school district schedules teacher in‑service training days during a school year, two of those in‑service training days must be conducted on days that correspond to the election dates prescribed in section 16‑204, subsection E.

B.  For the purposes of this section, "Teacher in‑service training day" means a designated day during the school year in which classes are not held and teachers are required to report to the school or another site for training, professional development, team-building exercises, meetings, lesson planning, self‑study or any combination of these tasks. Sec. 2.  Title 38, chapter 3, Arizona Revised Statutes, is amended by adding article 1.1, to read:

ARTICLE 1.1.  USE OF PUBLIC BUILDINGS

START_STATUTE38-409.  Public buildings; election day

A public officer or public employee who has authority over a public building operated by a political subdivision of this state, including a school district, shall make that public building available for use as a polling place on an election day on request of the officer in charge of elections, and section 16-411, subsection F does not apply.END_STATUTE
