AN ACT

 

amending Title 15, chapter 1, article 8, Arizona Revised Statutes, by adding section 15-186; relating to charter schools.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Arizona:

Section 1.  Title 15, chapter 1, article 8, Arizona Revised Statutes, is amended by adding section 15-186, to read:

START_STATUTE15-186.  New charter schools; location restriction

A.  A charter school that is established after December 31, 2016 may not be located within five miles of a school that has been assigned a letter grade of A or B pursuant to section 15‑241 within the previous three years.

B.  Subsection A of this section does not apply to any charter school that was established before January 1, 2017. END_STATUTE
