AN ACT

 

Appropriating monies to the department of education.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Arizona:

Section 1.  Supplemental appropriation; department of education; foreign teachers; work visas; exemption

A.  In addition to any other monies appropriated to the department of education, the sum of $100,000 is appropriated from the state general fund in fiscal year 2015-2016 to the department of education for distribution to school districts and charter schools for reimbursement of expenses, including filing fees and legal fees, incurred by a school district or charter school in fiscal year 2015-2016 or 2016-2017 relating to obtaining an H-1B or J‑1 visa for a foreign teacher who teaches in this state.

B.  On or before July 1, 2016, the department shall develop procedures for the submission of reimbursement requests by school districts and charter schools pursuant to this section and for the verification and processing of these requests.

C.  The appropriation made in subsection A of this section is exempt from the provisions of section 35-190, Arizona Revised Statutes, relating to lapsing of appropriations until from and after August 15, 2017.
